DePauw Jazz Ensemble

For its first concert of the semester, the DePauw Jazz Ensemble brings an extremely varied set to the stage, mixing funk, swing and hard bop, with classic jazz tunes and less familiar works, including great charts by Don Menza, Bob Mintzer, Paul McKee, Eric Richards, Frank Mantooth and Toshiko Akiyoshi.

From Broadway to DePauw, Jason Robert Brown brings his amazing talent and energy to the School of Music's Living Composers Festival (March 6-7), beginning on Friday with discussions, vocal coachings and a master class featuring DePauw School of Music voice students Brooke Addison '15, Hannah Gauthier '17, Joseph Leppek '15, Yazid Pierce-Gray '16, Sarah Pistorius '17, Derrick Truby '17 and Angel Riley '18.

Return to DePauw, Alumni Panel: "Getting into the Business"

Alumni panelists Gretchen Cryer '57, Jeanne DeVos Bowling '91, Steven Showalter '97, Andrew Cornelius '99 and Lindsay Bartlett '07 return to DePauw to share their experiences in the fields of music and theatre. The panel, moderated by Steven Linville '06, will provide insight into career development and answer questions about what it takes to succeed.

A discussion of the ethics of theatre and musical theatre, drawing on content from productions of Sweeney Todd, Urinetown, Parade and The Crucible. Panelists include Susan Anthony, Gretchen Cryer '57, Tim Good, Dean Mark McCoy and moderator, Steven Linville '06.

Living Composers Festival, Student Cabaret: Works of Jason Robert Brown

For this Saturday cabaret, students perform selections from Jason Robert Brown's best-known scores, including his debut song cycle Songs for a New World and popular musicals The Last Five Years (Drama Desk Awards) and Parade (Tony Award, Best Original Musical Score).
