County Jail

Four people have been detained at the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, Timothy Ray Moore, 29, Cloverdale, was booked on both a warrant as well as for possession of marijuana.

* At 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Laura Christine Waldron, 53, Greencastle, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

* At 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, Troy Ray Childers, 40, Roachdale, was lodged in the jail and charged with driving while intoxicated.

* At 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Robert Alan Jones, 36, Greencastle, was booked on a charge of burglary.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 8:33 p.m. Tuesday, Anthony Kerr, 22, Greencastle, was arrested at Hanna and Crown streets by Officer Nick Eastham.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Kerr was arrested on a domestic battery charge.

Kerr was also cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Three other recent citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 11:40 pm. Tuesday, Patrick Crowell, 30, Brazil, was stopped by Officer Matt Huffman at South Indiana and Poplar streets.

Crowell was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

-- At 9 p.m Monday, Devon Halfacre, 24, Greencastle, was stopped on U.S. 231 North by Sgt. Charles Inman.

Halfacre was cited for driving with a suspended license.

-- At 10:25 p.m. Feb. 20, Mason Sollman, 19, Reelsville, was ticketed for speeding by Reserve Officer Jes Seipel.

Sollman was cited for 57 mph in a 40-mph zone on Veterans Memorial Highway.

Sheriff's Department

Four recent accidents have been investigated by the Putnam County Sheriff's Deprtment recently.

* At 7:10 a.m. Thursday, Tasha S. Brewer Storkman, 22, Roachdale, was southbound in a 2001 Grand AM on County Road 25 West, just north of County Road 500 North, when she lost control of her vehicle due to icy conditions and slid of the roadway. Storkman crashed through a fence and struck a power pole.

Investigating officer Lt. Donnie Pettit estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 5:25 p.m. Monday, Desirae L. Poynter, 16, Bainbridge, and Michael L. Hamilton, 63, Bainbridge, were involved in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 36.

Hamilton advised investigating officer Sgt. Gregg Slover that as he was eastbound in a 2011 GMC 1500, Poynter entered the roadway from County Road 300 East in a 2010 Volkswagen and that he was unable to avoid a with a collision, striking Poynter's vehicle in the front left fender.

Hamilton refused ambulance transport following the wreck while Poynter was taken by ambulance to Hendricks Regional Health hospital.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

* At 8:21 a.m. Wednesday, Brandon S. Hall, 18, Ladoga, advised investigating officer Deputy Adam Hull that as he entered a curve, driving west on County Road 300 East near County Road 800 North, the steering wheel in the 2004 Saturn Ion locked up. That caused him to leave the roadway and strike a tree with the front of the vehicle.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 3:25 p.m. Wednesday, Rebecca L. Grimes, 17, Greencastle, was eastbound in a 1998 Ford Explorer on County Road 250 North, just west of County Road 400 West when she swerved to miss a tree that had fallen in the roadway.

Grimes advised Lt. Pettit that as she swerved around the tree, she lost control of the vehicle, traveled up an embankment and struck the base of a tree before continuing on and flipping the vehicle onto its driver's side as it came to a rest back on the road, facing west and lying on its driver's side.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has performed several medical assists and responded to numerous dispatches recently.

* At 12:47 a.m. Monday, GFD was called to a fire alarm at the Operation Life building at 513 Bloomington St. when a carbon monoxide detector was triggered due to a malfunction.

* At 4:38 p.m. Monday, GFD was dispatched to 916 Golden Ct. for a smoke investigation but upon arrival, nothing was found.

* At 6:28 p.m. Monday, GFD performed a building investigation at 2 W. Seminary St.
