DePauw University faculty pianist Darcy McCoy will present a sensory-friendly recital of Spanish and Latin American music on Tuesday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Green Center's Thompson Recital Hall.

For this performance, McCoy will be inviting audience members to move about as they desire, ask questions, come sit on the stage if they prefer and, in general, be at ease as they experience some music together.

The versatile pianist will start the evening's festivities with Claude Debussy's "La soirée dans Grenade" for which the composer drew inspiration from a popular 19th-century dance form, the habanera, to evoke his depiction of the city of Granada.

The program will also feature Robert Sierra's "Toccata" (a piece that McCoy rehearsed with the composer during his recent DePauw residency) and compelling works of Spanish nationalism, including selections from Enrique Granados's "Escenas Románticas" and Isaac Albéniz's "Cantos de España."

Acclaimed colleague John Clodfelter will join McCoy for a grand duo-piano finale of Manuel Infante's "Tres Danzas Andaluzas."

A frequent adjudicator and collaborative performer, McCoy has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Stewart Graduate Performance Grant, Young Artist Grand Prizes from the Lawton Philharmonic and the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra, and the Gail Boyd de Stwolinski Award for achievement in performance and scholarship. She earned the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance and Literature from the University of Kansas.

General admission for the Faculty Select Series is $5. Tickets for seniors, youth and all students, are free thanks to season sponsors Judson and Joyce Green.
