Opal Inman Schopmeyer

Opal (Wells) Inman Schopmeyer leaves a 97-year faith-filled legacy to her family and all who knew her.

She had lived in Coal City most of her life, however, the last 20 years she lived in Brazil.

Opal was born Dec. 11, 1917 in Coal City, the daughter of Morton and Grace (Hauser) Wells.

She graduated from Coal City High School.

Opal married Stanley "Mutt" Inman April 1, 1939. He preceded her in death in February 1979. She married Rex Schopmeyer Oct. 1, 1983. He preceded her in death in 1999.

Opal enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking, cooking and gardening.

She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church, Busy Bee Home Ec Club and El Shaddai Emmaus Community.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Richard Thatcher; sisters Hazel Lucas and Wilma McClarren; three brothers, Marion Wells, Ray Wells and Wyman Wells; great-great-granddaughter Sarah Elisha Persinger; and stepdaughter-in-law Myra Schopmeyer.

She leaves behind her children, Lavonda Thatcher of Coal City, Jean Harris and husband Gerald of Brazil, Sandi Clark and husband Vurlin of Greencastle, Peg Johnson and husband Larry of Cloverdale, and Ricky Inman and wife Tina Elaine of Clay City; stepchildren Marion Schopmeyer, Lloyd Schopmeyer (Judy), Sue Collenbaugh (Gary); grandchildren Mark Thatcher (Lisa), Marty Persinger (Mike), Marla Ames (Chris), Michael Harris (Tawni), Chris Harris (Sharon), Shelli Roembke (Keith), Jason Clark (Amy), Ryan Clark (Angie), Andrea Hoffman (Ivan), Chelsea Neier (Caleb), Jennifer Burcham (Kellie Faith), Jeremy Burcham (Nuha), Jessica Johnson, Joseph Inman (Jodi), Jared Inman (Suzanna) and Ridge Inman; step-grandchildren Hope Schopmeyer, Katie Elson, Lisa Burnett (Mark), Kevin Schopmeyer (Hannah), Tasha Collenbaugh, and Darrin Collenbaugh; great-grandchildren Heath Persinger (Brittney), Brodie Persinger (Kayla), Ariana Persinger, Kasi Fields (Nathan), Garrett Thatcher (Chandra), Whitney Ames, Elliott Harris, Eli Harris, Grace Harris, Zion Harris, Bethany Harris and fiancé Colin Brown, Kylie Harris, Keegan Roembke, Camden Roembke, Kade Roembke, Christian Roembke, Mackenzie Miranda (Orlando), Madison Cash, Ashlyn Clark, Landon Clark, Brinlee Clark, Boston Clark, Kennedy Clark, Graham Clark, Avery Hoffman, Colston Hoffman, Aydin Burcham, Asyia Burcham, Seth Faith, Kiersten Inman, Caleb Inman, Isaac Inman, Jada Inman and Jayleigh Inman; stepgreat-grandchildren Cheyenne Elson, Tailer Marshall, Evan Bulauski, Jake Owens, Tyler Burnett, Mark Burnett Jr., Lillyonna Schopmeyer, Juliette Schopmeyer, Milam Schopmeyer, Journey Campbell and Jaxson Campbell and Riley Stohler; great-great-grandchildren Havah Persinger, Jett Persinger, Scout Persinger, Bentley Persinger, Jessa Persinger, Rylan Thatcher and Brayson Miranda; sisters-in-law Bessie Wells and Mary Inman; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m Thursday, March 12 at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 E. Eighth St., Clay City, with Pastor Bob Kumpf officiating.

Burial will follow at Beech Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday.
