With the first 100+ Men Who Care: Putnam County event scheduled for Thursday, March 19, the founding board's recruitment efforts have passed 90 men committed to participate in the goal of raising $10,000 for a Putnam County charity in under an hour, four times during 2015.

The initial event is set for 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday at the Inn at DePauw, 2 W. Seminary St., Greencastle.

"Our organizing board has worked diligently contacting men throughout Putnam County and we have every expectation of reaching our goal of 100 guys," Scott Davis, organizer of the local group, shared. "The 90 men who have said 'yes' to participating clearly illustrate how guys can come together to make an immediate, big impact in our local community."

The Putnam County board represents men who reside throughout the county and will be one of the few chapters of 100+ Men nationally.

Following the national model, the organization meets four times a year with each man contributing $100 each to a deserving local charity. Each year the organization's members will award of $40,000 to four Putnam County 501c3 charities.

In addition, the organization has partnered with the Putnam County Community Foundation for organizational support and the growth of endowed community funds through a contribution of $100 to the foundation at the first meeting in March.

Davis, who in January, rallied 11 Putnam County men to organize the effort observed, "100+ Men gives men who may feel that it is difficult to make a significant impact individually due to a busy life and other responsibilities the ability to make a meaningful difference and learn more about the many worthy community service programs and organizations serving Putnam County."

Men from all walks of life and different backgrounds are encouraged to join by attending on March 19.
