Sky Warn class to help spot emergencies

Sunday, March 15, 2015

Barely out of the winter weather season, the attention of weather specialists now turns to the severe weather associated with spring and summer.

In this vein, the Putnam County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will offer a free Sky Warn class on Tuesday, March 18 at the Putnam County Emergency Operation Center.

The 7 p.m. class conducted by Dave Tucek of the National Weather Service will touch on the basics for residents wanting to help with storm spotting and those simply wanting to learn more about storms.

Tucek, along with EMA Severe Weather Specialist Chris Edwards, will help citizens with information on identifying storm structure and how to report storms to the National Weather Service.

A question-and-answer period will be included.

The event is free to the public.

The Emergency Operations Center is located at 1600 W. CR 225 South, Greencastle.
