Middle school County Tourney play begins

The seventh and eigth-grade Putnam County girls' basketball teams took to the floor Tuesday in the first round of the Putnam County Tournament.

North Putnam traveled to GMS to take on the Tiger Cubs. South Putnam played host to Cloverdale.

The Cloverdale seventh-grade team took control of the game and managed a 38-21 win over the Eagles. The eighth-grade Eagles fared better in a close game with the Clovers. They toughed out the win 27-21.

At Greencastle, North Putnam's seventh-grade overpowered the Tiger Cub team 35-8. Greencastle's eighth-graders however got the job done winning decisively 42-15.

All four county teams will be represented at the Putnam County Championship rounds held at North Putnam Middle School Thursday. Cloverdale's seventh grade will take on the Cougars and Greencastle's eight-grade team will be playing South Putnam. The first game starts at 6 p.m.
