Future Putnam County philanthropists speak out

Kady McKean, a DePauw University student intern, and Elaine Peck.

At the Putnam County Community Foundation's booth at the Ag Day Mini-Farm Fest, children were asked to think about what they would do to make the world a better place.

Children were asked, "If you had a million dollars or superpowers, what would you do to help people and make the world a better place?"

"The children really give it some serious thought," Elaine Peck, executive director of the Putnam Community Foundation, said. "Sometimes they come up with answers that stop me in my tracks."

Their answers ranged from the predictable "helping people" to "freeze the bad guys" and "using my strength to pick up fallen trees" to the more practical notion of fixing up county roads.

The children's thoughts in their own handwriting.
