Lonnie Ray Bryant Sr.

Lonnie Ray Bryant Sr., passed away surrounded by loved ones at the age of 65. Sadly Lonnie lost his battle with pancreatic cancer late Wednesday, March 18, 2015.

Lonnie was born to the late Edgar and Winifred (Whitt) Bryant in Virginia in 1949, he grew up the second youngest of four siblings.

He graduated from Fillmore High School and went on to enlist in the United States Marine Corps where he served his country for nine years before being honorably discharged. Lonnie was stationed in Vietnam from 1968-69 and Okinawa from 1971-73.

He was married to Susan (Strain) Glaser in 1968 then married Veronica (Morales) Bryant in 1973.

Lonnie was a good friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, storytelling, woodworking, car tinkering, camping, fishing, kayaking, canoeing and traveling.

Lonnie is lovingly remembered by his family, friends and children.

He is survived by children Anne Bryant (Dave Folck), Christy Bryant (Chris Meadows), Lonnie Bryant Jr. (Leatha), Laura Weddle (Tom), Lucinda Fox (Mark), Matthew Bryant (Chrissy); brother Kenneth Bryant (Phyllis); sister Rita Pierce (Ted) and brother-in-law, Ken Spencer.

Lonnie has six children, 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Winifred Bryant, and his sister, Freeda Spencer.

Graveside services will be conducted at the Deer Creek Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 4.

A celebration of the life will be held at the VFW in Greencastle at 3 p.m. Saturday. Please come and share good
