Faculty Select Series: Guest Artist and School of Music Alumnus Orlando Cela, flute

Orlando Cela, a 1997 graduate of DePauw University, returns to campus this week at the invitation of the School of Music to offer the next Faculty Select concert. Known for his extended technique and collaborations on new works for flute, Cela will perform a range of music from the Sonata in A Minor by C. P. E. Bach to "Anūsvāra" by Indian composer Shirish Korde celebrated for "integrating and synthesizing music of diverse cultures into breathtaking works of complex expressive layers."

Four delightful opera arias, three romantic concertos and two American musical theatre standards make for what is certain to be one remarkable concert. The soloists who will be featured on the concert, conducted by Orcenith Smith, are Addy Sterrett '16 (voice), Natalia Fumero '18 (clarinet), Angel Riley '18 (voice), Julie Strauser '16 (voice), Shiyu Su '17 (piano), Dallas Gray '17 (voice), Dana Hart '16 (voice), Julia Massicotte '17 (voice) and B. Peter Lockman '17 (cello).
Green Guest Artist Concert: Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra with pianist Alice Sara Ott

The ISO's charismatic music director Krzysztof Urbanski conducts an all-Beethoven program featuring the dramatic "Leonore" Overture No.3, along with a thrilling performance of the Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor by Deutsche Grammophon recording artist Alice Sara Ott.
