Shining Light on Children

At the conclusion of a program Celebrating Children and Families, attendees participate in a candlelight vigil Monday evening in the Community Building at the Putnam County Fairgrounds. Local Pastor Bobby Hopper helps little Samantha Morgan light a candle as her mother, Sarah Morgan of Greencastle, holds the two-year-old. With April being Child Abuse Prevention Month, other upcoming local activities include a free family film showing at Ashley Square Cinema at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 11 and a "Safety Shower" designed for community members with young children from 1-3 p.m. April 23 at the National Guard Armory. It will feature games, prizes and raffles while multiple service providers offer booths focusing on child safety topics. (Photo by ERIC BERNSEE)
