Council, commissioners to meet in joint session Monday

Thursday, April 9, 2015

With 911 software funding and a possible public safety tax on the agenda, the Putnam County Commissioners and Putnam County Council will again meet in joint session on Monday, April 13.

The meeting will take place at 10 a.m. in the Commissioners Room on the first floor of the Putnam County Courthouse.

The two boards met jointly in March for discussion of the same issues.

The county is grappling with a $960,000 cost associated with upgrading the software for Putnam County 911 Dispatch.

They are considering getting part of the funding from a new County Adjusted Gross Income Tax for public safety, which could add an additional one quarter of one percent (0.00025) to county income taxes.

Such a tax would bring in an estimated $150,000 annually to be used for public safety.
