A strong South Vermillion team proved too much for Greencastle's softball team and they dominated the hosts 12-1.

"We just didn't play a very good ball game," GHS coach Dave Keller said. "We haven't played very well the last two nights. We started out well (Monday) against Terre Haute South through five innings. It's up to us to fix it and we'll get there."

Greencastle went up 3-0 on Terre Haute South Monday before the Braves scored 15 straight runs. Against the Wildcats on Tuesday, Greencastle hit popflys more than anything else while South Vermillion got a bead on freshman Skyler Hensley's pitches with a few errors helping them along the way.

"That's a good team and they put some pressure on us," Keller said. "But really it was like a 6-1 game that we turned into a 12-1 game. Out defense didn't play well."

Errors have not been the Greencastle way early in the season and the Tiger Cubs will have few days to sure up their game before they take on the struggling Crawfordsville on Friday.

"We pitched ok, but defensively that's not like us," Keller said. "Defense keeps us in ball games. I think we only had one or two strikeouts tonight and we had no strikeouts last night. So we are putting the bat on the ball. But whereas in our first tow games we were hitting in good situations, with runners on, we aren't doing that now. So we'll work on that the next couple nights."

Keller said he is happy to be facing teams of high caliber because it can prepare his team for sectional play.

GHS will face the Athenians at home on Friday and that will be the third of their four game home-stand.
