Cloverdale golf notches good win in bad weather

Friday, April 17, 2015

A soggy field couldn't slow the Clovers down. The golf team made the trek up to Linton to play at Phil Harris. Cloverdale took the win 164-17-

"Conditions were very wet. Linton had an inch and a half of rain overnight, and the course was only opened for our match," Clover coach Doug Wokoun said.

"Freddy (Fislar) had a very good effort, bouncing back from his battles on Monday. Rylan (Mattocks) and Kylar (Galloway) both played well, with a lot of good shots. Chase probably has the best round through six holes, but ran into some trouble at the finish."

Fislar was the low man with 39 while Mattocks and Galloway finished with 40 and 41 respectively.

"Overall, this was a real step up from our effort on Monday, and the kind of rebound that I was hoping we would have. Our guys played very well under difficult circumstances, and made good adjustments, a critical part of playing on the road," Wokoun said.
