Banner Graphic:What is different about being a senior this year?

Austin Mitchell: Being a senior, you have a lot more leadership skills. You have got to boost people up. That's what they count on you for. You'll have to be more of a leader. You have to comunicate with people and you have to be able to show them that they are in a sport and they can have fun. But you also have to do what you've got to do what you've got to do it.

BG: What is your favorite thing about track?

AM: Really just being with everyone. Being with friends is the best part about it. Especially being a senior in high school, you've grown up with these guys.

BG: Who are some of your best friends on the team?

AM: James Brown, Nate Tesmer and Elijah Williams. I've known James and Nate for four years. They've been my friends since elementary school. Elijah was a freshman last year considering he was a freshman and I was the only thrower until he came along. We've kind of had a bond since then.

BG: Who are your inspirations off the field?

AM: My mom has been a good influence on my life. She's always telling me to keep going no matter how hard it gets. She's always been there for me through good and hard times.

BG: What are your best memories at GHS?

AM: The locker rooms before the meets or games because everyone is there, you are getting hyped up and they are ready to go. They are getting focused. That's the best time because everyone is there for one purpose and one purpose only.

BG: What are your plans after high school?

AM: After high school I plan on going to the University of Evansville for four years. After I graduate from that I'm going to go do a year and a half in Canada at a school that specializes in special effects. I want to be a special effects and make-up artist. I'm going to get my fine arts degree in sculpting.

BG: What made you want to get into special effects?

AM: I've always been an artsy-fartsy kind of guy. The show face-off is really what inspired me. to get into that. I've always had a passion for art. It's something new every day.
