Friday, April 17, 2015

South Putnam baseball team continued to struggle on the road against Martinsville Friday. The Eagles put up some scoring late but ultimately fell 9-4.

The Artesians scored one in the first, two in the second and three in the third to jump to an early lead.

Martinsvile then scored three in the fifth to score nine before South Putnam could respond. The four runs by the Eagles in the sixth were not enough.

South Putnam junior Grady McHugh notched two RBIs and stole two bases in the contest. Junior Tayler Bush scored the team's only double and Senior Braxston Lucas earned an RBI.

The Eagles will be back in action Monday at Monrovia before going to Covenant Christian on Tuesday and going to Eminence Wednesday.
