Going Green

Sunday, April 19, 2015
Student Darion Brown waters plants inside the new greenhouse built for North Putnam middle and high schools. The greenhouse features modern timers and temperature controls and, importantly, provides a hands-on approach for students to learn about plant biology and farming techniques. The previous greenhouse lacked the modern technology and was much smaller than the new experienced-based learning facility. Furthermore, the school will sell what students have grown as part of a weekly, Saturday market to fundraise for ongoing greenhouse projects. (Photo by KYLE HOLLINGER)

The old Greenhouse will still be used but lacks many of the updates that maximimize growing by automating temperature and airflow in the newer greenhouse. (Photo by KYLE HOLLINGER)
