Clean Sweep Day April 25 to celebrate Earth Day

Tuesday, April 21, 2015

On Saturday, April 25, the Greencastle Civic League and the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce will celebrate Earth Day with a Clean Sweep Day event, from 9 a.m. to noon.

All community members, Chamber members and Greencastle students are invited to join in the effort to clean and tidy up the community.

Citizens will check in at a checkpoint location throughout the city, agree to the section of a street they will clean up, and collect clean-up supplies, including trash bags and vests if needed.

Checkpoints will be located at Big Walnut Sports Park, Robe-Ann Park and downtown Greencastle during the Farmers' Market and Greencastle Earth Day celebration. When they have completed the clean-up, they can return the bags to the checkpoint location.

The K-5 classroom who has the most students participate in Clean Sweep Day will be awarded a pizza party, sponsored by Monical's Pizza.

The Chamber member with the most participants will be awarded the coveted Clean-Up Day traveling plaque that is currently held by Putnam County Hospital.

`No reservations are necessary, simply show up on April 25 at a checkpoint location of your choosing. Persons may clean solo or with a group.
