Doors for Friday's Luck lecture at DPU to open for public at 6:15

Wednesday, April 22, 2015

Doors will open for the general public at 6:15 p.m. Friday, April 24 for a DePauw University Ubben Lecture by Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.

Meanwhile, DePauw University students with ID can enter Kresge Auditorium earlier at 6 p.m.

The NFL star will discuss "Creating Your Personal Game Plan for Success" at 7 p.m. in the venue, which is located within DePauw's Green Center for the Performing Arts (605 S. College Ave.).

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck celebrates as he runs off the field after a win.

The program, which will be moderated by DePauw head football coach Bill Lynch, will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

Like all Ubben Lectures, the event is presented free of admission charge and is open to everyone. Seating will be general admission and first come, first served.

In the event the auditorium fills to capacity, the lecture can be viewed on closed-circuit video feeds in adjacent Thompson Recital Hall and Moore Theatre.

The conversation between Luck and Lynch will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience.

Luck was the first player selected in the 2012 NFL draft. In his first three seasons as a pro, he has led the Colts to three playoff appearances and division titles in 2013 and 2014, and has been a Pro Bowl selection each season.

Luck and the Colts were 11-5 during the 2014 regular season, captured the AFC South title and won playoff games against Cincinnati and Denver.

During the season, Luck led the NFL in touchdown passes with 40 and threw for 4,761 yards, breaking Peyton Manning's single-season franchise record (Manning was a 2004 Ubben Lecturer). Luck is only the fifth NFL quarterback since 1970 to win 30 regular-season games in his first three seasons in the league.

The speech marks the fifth and final Timothy and Sharon Ubben Lecture of the 2014-15 academic year. The 44th vice president of the United States, 1969 DePauw graduate Dan Quayle, visited campus on March 31.

This year's other Ubben Lecturers have been television's Jimmy Kimmel, "Orange Is the New Black" author Piper Kerman and New York Times columnist David Brooks.

Established in 1986 through the support of 1958 DePauw graduates Timothy H. and Sharon Williams Ubben, the Ubben Lecture Series was designed to "bring the world to Greencastle." Overall 100 programs have been presented.
