Wednesday, April 22, 2015

MONROVIA -- The South Putnam baseball and softball teams traveled to Monrovia to face the Bulldogs. Unfortunetely neither team could pick up the win as the baseball team fell 4-3 and the softball team lost 11-1.

Against Monrovia the baseball team played well and held the score at three all for most of the game. However after the Eagles failed to score in the seventh, Monrovia scored one for the lead and the game.

Juniors Josh Stewart and Trevor Lonf both earned RBIs for the Eagles and junior Bradon Gierke struck out three batters for the Eagles.

The softball team had a tougher time at Monrovia as junior Makenzi Myers notched the team's only RBI when she knocked in freshman Lillie Stein.

The Lady Eagles will play Friday against Edgewood.

The baseball team was back in action Tuesday at Covenant Christian but fell victim to the Warriors when Covenant Christian scored seven runs in the sixth inning to secure the 13-3 win.

South Putnam baseball is now 2-9 and 0-4 in the WCC.

The boys will play Danville at home on Friday.
