County Jail

Nine people have been placed into the custody of the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 9:36 a.m. Tuesday, Justin Ryan Grant, 28, Martinsville, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

* At 11 a.m., Steven Richard Lucas, 38, Terre Haute, was arrested for parole violation.

* At 7:25 p.m., Mikala Renee Jacobson, 20, Lafayette, was arrested for a warrant.

* At 11:55 p.m., Cody James Johnson, 22, Plainfield, was charged with parole violation.

* At 6 p.m., Magon Jonell Tabor, 23, Greencastle, was booked on a warrant.

* At 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, Austin Tyler Edward Sawyer, 19, Cloverdale, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

* At 9:25 p.m., Jacob Eli White, 30, Terre Haute, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of mariujuana, possession of paraphernalia and driving while suspended.

* At 12:40 a.m. Thursday, Allison Marie Hayden, 24, Fillmore, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

City Police

A minor two-vehicle accident was reported by Greencastle City Police Tuesday afternoon on North Jackson Street, just south of the viaduct at the north edge of Greencastle.

* At 2:09 p.m., Brian Monnett, 53, Greencastle, was southbound, driving a 2001 mixer truck owned by Cash Concrete, Greencastle.

Monnett told Officer Jeff Modlin that a vehicle in front of him stopped abruptly to turn right, causing him to brake suddenly, which resulted in his vehicle being rear-ended by a southbound semi.

The truck, a 2007 Kenworth semi, was driven by Tim Robinson, 41, Pittsfield, Ill. He had neither time nor space to stop the rig and avoid a collision.

Total damage was estimated by Officer Modlin at $1,000-$2,500.

One recent citation was issued by city officers.

* At 6:53 p.m. April 16, Cynthia Ross, 47, Greencastle, was stopped on Hanna Street, east of Illinois Street.

Ross was cited by Officer Nick Eastham for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Sheriff's Department

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department investigated two recent accidents.

* At 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Lisa A. Jones, 53, Carbon, was westbound in a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire on County Road 125 West when she reportedly lost control of the vehicle and struck a fence.

Jones told investigating officer Sgt. Gregg Slover that her vehicle began to shake, she overcorrected and lost control of the car, causing her to leave the north side of the roadway.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, Ronald G. Miller II, 39, Brazil, was westbound on U.S. 40 in a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country when he encountered a deer in the roadway.

Miller advised Deputy Tyler Turner that the deer ran into the side of his van and broke the glass out of the rear driver's-side window.

Damage was estimate at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department performed six medical assists and responded to one other dispatch this week.

* At 12:39 p.m. Thursday, the GFD responded to 413 S. Locust St. to investigate a fire alarm. It was determined the alarm was set off due to cooking.
