Tough night for GHS golf

Friday, April 24, 2015

A week after its big win against West Vigo and just a few days after a close loss at Brownstown, the Greencastle boys' golf team fell just short of a win against Southmont at home on Thursday.

The Tiger Cubs lost 189-192.

"(It was a) tough scoring night for the Cubs, as not very much went right on the course," GHS coach Steve Paquin said. "Shot making, chipping and putting were the troublesome areas. The youth of this team showed tonight as when things went bad it got worse as the round progressed. Jake Buis had a solid night with a score of 37 to take medalist honors."

Even with Buis' 37 and Jake Bennett matching the 47, Greencastle couldn't get a low enough team score to secure the win.

The Tiger Cubs will next play at Rea Park on Saturday for the Bob Arnett Invite hosted by Terre Haute South.
