The South Putnam Eagle baseball team followed up its big win against North Putnam with another home win versus Turkey Run Wednesday. South Putnam won 11-9 with both teams scoring all of their runs in the first four innings.

Senior Jake Carmichael slugged two home runs, recording six RBIs.

"We had some great hitting from top to bottom," SPHS coach Kevin Love said. "Jake Carmichael had two home runs, one being a grand slam and a total of six RBI on the night. We made a few errors defensively early on in the game but I was impressed with the fact that our team put it back together as the game continued on."

When Turkey Run scored one in the first inning, South Putnam scored two. When the Warriors scored three in the second, the Eagles scored four. Turkey Run scored one in the third and four in the fifth. South Putnam then scored five runs in the fourth. That put SPHS ahead 11-9. Braxston Lucas went 3-3 with three hits and an RBI and Grady McHugh earned two RBIs.

"We had some great pitching from both Grady McHugh and freshman Hunter Croan," Love said. "Hunter picked up his first varsity win as a pitcher. Overall I'm really proud of the team's effort and the fact that we did not allow the early mistakes to continue to build. I hope that we can ride this momentum into the game on Friday at Riverton Parke."
