Featured Athlete of the Week: Braxston Lucas, Baseball South Putnam High School

Braxston Lucas is a senior baseball player at South Putnam. He was born March 19, 1996 to Shannon Clayton and Jason Lucas. He has two sisters and three brothers.

Braxston enjoys watching baseball and football on television likes eating pizza.

His favorite subjects in school are biology and math and his favorite teachers were Theresa Doud and Elaine Bye.

His favorite professional athletes are David Ortiz, Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter.

Banner Graphic: What's different about being a senior this year?

Braxston Lucas: Being a leader. Showing the freshmen some of the stuff that we have learned from coach. Coach is a good guy. He teaches and coaches well. We try to teach the freshmen well so they can get better and come fill our spots.

BG: What's are some of your favorite memories at South Putnam?

BL: In the JV county tournament my (sophomore year), winning the first round. I pitched, so that was nice, knowing that I had won in the JV county tourney with all my friends and teammates having my back.

BG: Who inspires you in your personal life?

BL: My parents really. Then family and friends and teammates. They always have your back. We have each others' back here. They inspire me and make me work harder.

BG: What are your plans after high school?

BL: I'm going to college for computer systems administration. I am going to Ivy Tech in Greencastle for my first year and then transferring.

BG: What made you choose that profession?

BL: Going to Area 30. We have a computer system networking class at Area 30 that I take right now. I mean, I love computers. I love working on them.
