County Jail

Two people were lodged in the Putnam County Jail early Friday.

* At 12:03 a.m. Friday, Zachary Bullerdick, 24, Greencastle, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

* At 3:11 a.m. Michael Allan Taylor, 48, Bloomington, was booked in for driving while intoxicated.

Sheriff's Department

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department investigated a car-deer accident early Thursday.

* At 7:57 a.m., Darrin N. Wells, 49, Reelsville, was eastbound on County Road 1000 South in a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado when he struck a deer just east of State Road 243.

Deputy James J. Boller estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department performed three medical assists and responded to three other dispatches this week.

* At 12:58 p.m. Thursday, April 30, the GFD responded to 208 E Olive St. to investigate a fire alarm. It was determined the cause was a hot iron.

* At 3:34 p.m. Thursday, April 30, the GFD responded to 311 S. Locust St. A washing machine motor caused there to be smoke in the building.

* At 1:28 p.m. Friday, May 1, the GFD assisted with a trash fire at 413 Anderson St.
