TERRE HAUTE - The Greencastle track team split wins when it went to West Vigo Wednesday. The girls earned their win with a score of 79-48 however the boys fell 76-56.

The Tiger Cub girls saw success from Kat King and Allison White, each earning first-place honors in the long jump and high jump respectively.

King also took the 100-meter dash and was on two of the winning Tiger Cub relay teams, each of which took first.

Mia Stevens took first in the shot put and second in the discus while Arianna Pershing won the 3200.

"There were several bright spots throughout the boys' and girls' meets. Those bright spots are coming at a good time with county, conference and sectional starting in two weeks," GHS coach Garry Anderson said. "The girls 3200-meter relay started the meet off with a season best time of 10:58.4 followed by the boys 3200M relay with another season best with their time of 8:37.6."

Spencer Rhine took the discus event with Joe January picking up second place. Austin Mitchell took first in the shot put and Carlie Capps earned second.

The Tiger Cub boys won the 3200 relay but struggled getting wins elsewhere.

"The boys swept the shot put and got first and second in the discus," Anderson said. "J.T. Mathews won the high jump with a season best jump of 6-0 and Allison White won the girls' high jump with a jump of 4-10."

Anderson was excited to see his team improving as the season wears on.

"Several PR's and season bests occurred throughout the meet," he said. "However we came up short in the boys scoring department by winning only five events while the girls pulled out a win by winning 12 events."

Greencastle's next event will be a three-way meet at home on Tuesday.
