Joshua Smith sworn in as new GPD officer

Taking the oath of office Monday morning from Greencastle Mayor Sue Murray, 32-year-old Joshua M. Smith is sworn in as a new Greencastle City Police officer. Smith was unanimously approved by the Board of Public Works and Safety in February and began his official duties following the ceremony at City Hall on Monday. The 2001 Greencastle High School graduate is an eight-year Marine Corps veteran, serving a combined three tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq before returning to civilian life in 2013.
