Marjorie Ann Burdge

Marjorie Ann Burdge, 93, Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Avon Health Care Center.

She was born Nov. 2, 1921 in Mooresville, and was the daughter of the late Floyd and Ruth Gladys (Hornaday) Pennington.

She was married to Russell E. Burdge on Oct. 25, 1939, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1994.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Union Valley Baptist Church at Belle Union and a former member of the Faith Baptist Church at Avon.

Survivors are her children, Julia Clark and her husband Bruce, Danville, Loretta Daugherty and her husband John, Clayton, Jim Burdge and his wife Judy, Greencastle, and Jeffrey Burdge and his wife Elaine, Greencastle, 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary McComb and Betty Neitzel, and her brothers, Maurice Pennington and Floyd Pennington.

Funeral services for Mrs. Burdge will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.

Visitation will be on Saturday, May 9 from noon until service time at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at New Providence Cemetery.
