LIZTON -- The South Putnam track team continued its improving, this time with the boys earning a 77-52 win against the Bruins. The Lady Eagles fell 86-42

The Eagle boys saw improvements in many events which contributed to the win.

Joey Masters' 119-foot discus throw improved by three feet and earned him a first-place finish.

Devon Workman's discus toss of 113-feet was an improvement of nine feet.

Berndt Freeman dropped his 5:04 1600-meter time down to 4:44.49 to earn first place while Oliviero Vurro knocked a few seconds off of his hurdle times.

"I was very pleased with the boys effort last night. We had several runners have personal bests," Eagle boys' coach Brian Gardner said. " Any time that you can go up to Tri-West and compete and win then guys have performed and competed well."

Gardner says with tournament time drawing near his Eagles are performing the way he likes to see.

"At this point in the season you are always looking for improvement and the signs of getting ready for the big meets," Gardner said. "Our kids tonight showed the signs that you want to see as a coach going into the county, conference and sectional."

The Lady Eagles had a tougher time but still saw wins from Deborah Cheatham in the high jump with 5-feet and Ariel Higgins in each of the hurdle events.

The Eagles will next take flight at the Putnam County Tournament Tuesday.
