At Your Disposal

Rolling a water heater to a waiting semi for proper disposal, NuGenesis employee Mike Adams does the heavy lifting during the West Central Solid Waste District's annual Tox-Away Day event at Greencastle High School Saturday. Then, getting a little help from his friends, Adams joins in depositing an old upright freezer into the semi as well. West Central Executive Director Jane Collisi said 665 vehicles went through the Putnam County Tox-Away Day line Saturday, dropping off "a great deal" of TVs, electronics and tires. West Central's next Tox-Away event will be June 20 at North Montgomery High School (north of Crawfordsville) from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Putnam County residents who may have missed the local event are welcome to attend that one or on Sept. 19 at the Parke County Fairgrounds in Rockville.
