Fr. Hollowell on ACLU panel to discuss LGBT rights at Vigo Library

TERRE HAUTE -- The American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana will convene a panel discussion to discuss Indiana's religious freedom law, or RFRA -- which has led to a push for LGBT rights -- on Wednesday, June 3 at the Vigo County Public Library.

Among the panelists on the program is Fr. John Hollowell, pastor of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Greencastle.

"Post-RFRA, Can Indiana Show It Welcomes All?" will be an hour-long moderated discussion beginning at noon.

The event is free and open to the public.

The panel includes:

-- Max Jones of the Terre Haute Tribune-Star, moderator.

-- Jane Henegar, executive director of the ACLU of Indiana.

-- Fr. John Hollowell, pastor of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Greencastle .

-- Doug Sloan, elder at Central Christian Church

-- Jeff Lorick, director, City of Terre Haute human relations.

-- Todd Nation, Terre Haute City Council.

Fr. Hollowell is the pastor of St. Paul's as well as Annunciation Catholic Church in Brazil. He serves as the Catholic chaplain of DePauw University and Putnamville Correctional Facility.

Born and raised on the south side of Indianapolis, he is a 1997 graduate of Roncalli High School and 2001 graduate of Hanover College where he majored in mathematics and education.

Hollowell was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis in June 2009.

This is the first time that the ACLU of Indiana has hosted First Wednesdays in Terre Haute. The community conversations have been a fixture in Indianapolis since 2006 and have been held in communities across Indiana in 2014-15.
