Early Friday morning, Indiana State Police Trooper David E. Cox Jr. was patrolling Interstate 70 in Putnam County, when he was alerted by police dispatch to a possible impaired driver eastbound near the 43-mile marker, two miles east of Cloverdale

A concerned motorist had called 911 to report an eastbound brown 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada driving erratically, Indiana State Police at Putnamville reported.

At 1:35 a.m., Trooper Cox spotted the vehicle driving erratically in the eastbound lanes near the 48-mile marker.

After stopping the vehicle and conversing with the driver, Cox noticed several indicators of possible alcohol impairment

The driver, Kimmy E. Gable, 58, of Missouri, was given a roadside field sobriety test and failed.

A subsequent certified breath test at the Putnam County Jail revealed he was .13 percent blood-alcohol content (BAC).

Gable was incarcerated in the Putnam County Jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Trooper Cox was assisted by Trooper Jonathan Cumbie.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department assisted with three medical runs and two other dispatches recently.

* At 2:09 p.m. Friday, GFD assisted with a motor vehicle accident on Franklin Street behind Dairy Castle. The department assisted with clean up.

* At 4:09 p.m. Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 413 S. Locust St. The alarm was set off due to cooking.
