SPENCER -- The low scoring of the Greencastle boys' golf team was enough to outdo the medalist for Owen Valley on Thursday as GHS took the win as Rolling Meadows.

While Owen Valley had a Patriot shoot a 36 to win individually Greencastle enjoyed the success of the whole team in the win. Jake Buis and Carl Basile tied for the second-best score of the day with 41.

Jake Bennett shot a 43, Blaise Hasty a 45, Lucas Gillen a 46 and Jonah Stevens shot a 49.

All of the GHS golfers had better scores than Owen Valley's second-place scorer.

GHS coach Stephen Paquin noted the below-average score even though certain part if the course gave the team trouble.

"Consistent scoring for the Cubs," Paquin said. "Putting, chipping, and penalty strokes bothered everyone in tonight's match, but they still managed to shoot below our average of 172. We will continue to work on our weaknesses, so that we will be at top form for the sectional, on June fifth."

Greencastle will be playing in the Crawfordsville sectional with Putnam County rivals North and South Putnam.

Individual Scoring: GHS: Jake Buis 41, Carl Basile 41, Jake Bennett 43, Blaise Hasty 45, Lucas Gillen 46, Jonah Stevens 49.

Owen Valley scoring: Alex Johnson 36 , Grant Rosenberger 52, Wade Emmeret 55, Simon Bault 60, Josh Schwomeyer 60, Thomas Stoner 65.
