Kids' Fishing Day at Jaycee Park Saturday morning

Greencastle's Jaycee Park pond will be the scene of the annual Kids' All-American Fishing Derby Saturday, June 6.

There is no charge to participate in the 8-11 a.m. Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department event.

Children ages 2-16 are invited to test their angling skills with such competitions as biggest fish, smallest fish, kids' casting and "Fish, Photograph and Release" planned. All youngsters must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Registration is set for 7:30-8 a.m. with awards presented at 11. Weigh-ins will be ongoing throughout the contest.

Boys and girls also can participate in the Huckleberry Finn Costume Contest with the winner announced at 11 a.m. There is a new fishing pole in it for the Huck Finn lookalike winner.

The fishing derby is sponsored by Walmart, Boy Scout Troop 99, Cub Scout Pack 99 and the City Parks and Recreation Department.
