County Jail

Two people were booked into Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Autumn Burger (Bartley) Cooper, 29, Greencastle, was arrested on charges of theft and probation violation.

* At 1:06 a.m. Thursday, Brian Wayne Roberts, 47, Seymour, was arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated and driving while suspended.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officials.

* At 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, James Flatt, 30, Roachdale, was arrested at the Putnam County Courthouse by Officer Jeff Modlin.

Arrested on a Putnam County warrant for two counts of burglary, Flatt was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

* At 11:42 p.m. Tuesday, Wesley Thornton, 37, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Eric Vaughan on alcohol-related charges.

Thornton, who was taken into custody trying to get into a South Illinois Street residence, was arrested for public intoxication.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Thornton registered a .179 percent blood-alcohol content under portable breathalyzer testing, police said.

* At 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, Beth Thompson, 30, Greencastle, was arrested at her Castlebury Apartments residence.

Arrested by Officer Darrel Bunten, Thompson was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a neglect of dependent charge.

Sheriff's Department

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department investigated two accidents recently.

* At 4:15 p.m. Sunday, Hunter J. Winslow, 20, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 450 North in a 2014 Ford F150.

Winslow advised Deputy James Boller after crossing the railroad tracks he noticed a pickup truck westbound in the center of the roadway. He steered to the right to avoid hitting the vehicle, causing his truck to strike the face of the guardrail.

That caused damage to the two passenger side wheels and minimal body damage.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 9:28 a.m. Wednesday, Kurt A. Timberman, 43, New Palestine, was southbound on Manhattan Road in a 2011 Dodge C500. William A. Lorimer, 49, Greencastle, was in front of Timberman in a 2001 Ford F350.

Timberman told Capt. Tom Helmer that Lorimer had slowed and activated his four-way flashing lights. He attempted to pass Lorimer, who then turned into his pathway. Timberman's right front fender struck the left front fender of Lorimer's vehicle.

Lorimer advised he had slowed down to look at the address on a mailbox and activated his left turn signal. Lorimer denied activating his four-way flashers.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department assisted with six medical runs and investigated several other dispatches recently.

* At 3:25 a.m. Sunday, GFD assisted with a structure fire at 6281 W. County Road 750 South in Reelsville.

* At 11:09 p.m. Tuesday, GFD responded to an unauthorized burn at 409 Melrose Ave. The fire was extinguished upon arrival.

* At 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, GFD assisted with a semi fire on Interstate 70 near Cloverdale.

* At 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, GFD assisted with a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at 1108 S. Locust St.

* At 9:39 p.m. Wednesday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 420 Anderson St. The alarm was caused by cooking.

* At 10:30 a.m. Thursday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 107 W. Hanna St. The alarm was caused by maintenance.
