Variety of Fourth of July events set Saturday at Robe-Ann Park

The Celebrate 4 Committee has planned another fun Independence Day for the Greencastle and Putnam County community.

The activity begins as early as 7 a.m. Saturday, July 4 and will continue past dusk with bombs bursting in air at the annual fireworks display put on by Sky Magic at Greencastle's Robe-Ann Park.

In between a variety of music and fun and food will be featured throughout the park to help celebrate Independence Day in a big way locally.

The list of activities includes:

Saturday, July 4

-- 7-8 a.m., Registration for Mike Rokicki Memorial 5K Road Run, Shelter No. 5, $20/person in advance or $25 day of event (registration includes ticket to the pancake breakfast and $5 Countrymark gas coupon).

-- 7:30-8:30 a.m., Zumba with Lita Sandy of Dance Workshop at Bob Flanigan bandshell, donation to Celebrate 4 asked.

-- 8 a.m., 24th annual Mike Rokicki Memorial 5K Road Run begins.

-- 9:15 a.m., 12th annual Youth Firecracker Fun Run, following the 5K Rokicki Run through Robe-Ann Park (free).

-- 8-11 a.m., Pancakes for Parks and Pathways fundraiser, sponsored by Greencastle Civic League, Friends of the Park and People Pathways (all you can eat), Shelter No. 1, cost $5.

-- 9:30 a.m., Furry Scurry Freedom Fashion Show registration, Park Maintenance Building, donations benefit new Big Walnut Sports Park dog park.

-- 10 a.m., Furry Scurry Freedom Fashion Show, in front of Park Maintenance Building.

-- 11 a.m., Aqua Zumba by Tara Gardner of Dance Workshop, aquatics center, free.

-- Noon-5 p.m., Free open swim, contests and games for all ages, Aquatics Center, free.

-- Noon to 1 p.m., Cornhole Tournament registration and open play, free.

--- 1 p.m., Cornhole Tournament (prizes awarded), $20 entry fee per team; $10 for individuals.

-- Noon to 10 p.m., Food court open with various concessions.

-- Noon to dusk, free musical entertainment in Bob Flanigan Bandshell, 2 p.m., reading of Declaration of Independence; 2:30-3 p.m., Cord Watkins (2014 Putnam County Star winner); 3:15-4:15 p.m., Cowboy Casanovas; 4:30-5:30 p.m., Dance Workshop; 5:45-6:30 p.m., Ron Dye of The Mongrel Dogs; 6:45-7:45 p.m., Blues Side Up; 8-10 p.m., 800-lb. Gorilla.

-- 5:30-9:30 p.m., Big Bounce Funhouse inflatables open, Shelter No. 5 area, tickets $1 and $5.

-- Dusk (approximately 10 p.m.), annual Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration by Sky Magic, donations/blanket pass. Music provided by WREB during fireworks show.
