SEELYVILLE -- A Cloverdale man was taken by helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital on Tuesday after crashing his motorcycle into a truck on U.S. 40.

Gerald McGuire, 38, was transported by Trans-Care paramedics to Union Hospital in Terre Haute, then airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries to his hip and pelvis area, according to the Vigo County Sheriff's Department.

The crash was reported around 1:18 p.m. in the 9500 block of U.S. 40 in Seelyville. The road was closed for crash investigation and cleanup for about 35 minutes.

The preliminary investigation shows a 2015 Ford F-250 truck, driven by Scott Schoffstall, 52, of Terre Haute, pulled out from a parking lot in front of McGuire's 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which was westbound on the highway.

"Information from witnesses and evidence at the scene suggest the 2015 Ford pickup truck pulled out in front of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle causing the motorcycle driver to lay the cycle over and striking the pickup truck in the driver's side rear bed area," investigators report. "No helmet was in use at the time of the crash."

Schoffstall was not injured in the crash.

No citations were issued.
