Clyde Robert 'Bob' Linton

Clyde Robert "Bob" Linton, 80, of Thorntown, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born in Hendricks County to Darwin and Betty Linton.

Bob graduated from Thorntown High School in 1952. He joined the Marines in 1954 and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C., until 1956.

During that time he met and married his wife, Shelby Jean (Gore), on Dec. 26, 1955. They have spent their lives together and raised their family in Thorntown.

He worked for Standard Oil Co. until he retired.

Bob, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Bob, a member of the Mechanicsburg Christian Church, American Legion Post 113 and the Thorntown Lions Club, was preceded in death by his parents and brother Carl.

Survivors include his wife Shelby; son Tony (Mary) Linton; daughter Robin (Butch) Mitchell; daughter Marsha (Brian) Freese; son Steve (Alicia) Linton; daughter Tracy White; brothers Lee Linton, Byron (Jayne) Linton, Harold (Mary) Linton; sisters Darcella (Gary) Branagin and Sharon (Mike) McLaughlin; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday, Aug. 1 at American Legion Post 113, 1020 W. Hendricks Drive, Lebanon, from 1-3 p.m.
