Bonus Bucks for SNAP customers at Farmers' Market

Tuesday, July 28, 2015

During August, Friends of the Greencastle Farmers' Market will offer residents receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) a free, $1 token (Bonus Bucks) for every $2 worth of SNAP tokens purchased at the market with a Hoosier Works card.

For each August market day, SNAP customers can receive up to $5 in free Bonus Bucks tokens, for as long as program funds last. The free Bonus Bucks tokens can be used at the market to buy fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables.

The Bonus Bucks program, funded by local donations, is an incentive program designed to help stretch family food budgets and to encourage healthy eating.

The Greencastle Farmers' Market is open every Saturday morning from 8 a.m.-noon on Indiana and Franklin streets on the square. SNAP, Bonus Bucks and Gift tokens (the latter allow credit card purchases) are all available during market hours at the SNAP/Credit Card Welcome Booth on the courthouse side of Indiana Street at the corner with Washington Street.

Those wishing to contribute to the Bonus Bucks Healthy Eating program should contact Friends of the Farmers' Market at (765) 276-7146.
