Nichols - 65th Anniversary

Doyle Nichols and Coleen Phillips were married on July 21, 1950 at the Morocco Christian Church. Rev. Robert Bond officiated and attendants were the late Merribeth Knetzer Wells and Hubert L. McGaughey.

After their honeymoon in Canada the couple returned to Indiana and later resided on their farm in Fillmore. Doyle began his IBM employment in Greencastle.

Their first move with IBM was to Sherman, Texas. There they were busy with a new Christian Church and Camp Fire Girls. Doyle, a member of The Choir Culls quartet, sang at many events in north Texas.

From there to Overland Park, Kan., where Doyle managed the Grandview, Mo., IBM Plant. Coleen was on the District Board of Camp Fire and their three daughters were members.

Next to Concord, Mass., IBM and a home in Acton, Mass. Daughter Loretta graduated from Acton High School. Coleen and Loretta traveled with International Christian Youth to Europe. Camp Fire continued to be a big part of Coleen's life, being on the District Board and Directing a Camp Fire Day Camp.

Then to Dayton, N.J., IBM and a home in Princeton Junction. Cathy and Donna graduated from Princeton High School and college. Cathy from the University of Miami (Fla.) and Donna from Bridgewater College, Bridgewater, Va. Coleen worked at Peter Oliver Real Estate and worked for National Camp Fire. The Nichols also had three weddings for three daughters while in New Jersey.

Next move was to Boca Raton, Fla., IBM and a home. Coleen worked at Mike Owen Real Estate. Loretta graduated from the University Of Texas in San Antonio. Doyle was involved with the start up of IBM's PC software.

IBM moved them to Boulder, Colo. They lived in Longmont area for 20 years. Coleen continued working with Camp Fire and received the National WO HE LO Award. The Nichols also continued to work in the church. They traveled to Australia for their granddaughter Kelley's college graduation.

After Doyle retired, they returned to be with Loretta, Teo and Charlotte Chapa in Florida and lived in Stuart for 10 years. They traveled to Colorado, Indiana and Washington to visit family and friends.

In 2014, they moved back to Longmont area to be near their Colorado family.

Coleen and Doyle celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at the home of Donna and John in Longmont with their daughters, families and friends, Loretta Chapa of Boca Raton, Fla., Cathy Nichols of Tacoma, Wash., Donna Nichols and John Hackman of Longmont, Colo., grand and great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Jim Fletcher of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Kelley Kopp, Shaun Williams, Maliah, Lylaih and Jaydah of Aurora, Colo., Chris and Darci Kopp, Mason, Elliot and Brady, of Grand Junction, Colo., Bobby and Alex Kopp and Alexa of Ogallala, Neb., and Charlotte Chapa of Orlando, Fla. Nephews and families, Harvey Burkett and Troyanne, Dan Corbin, Kathie, Danya and Darcy Corbin and friend Troy also Janine Humes.
