* At 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, Anthony W. West, 46, Indianapolis, was eastbound on State Road 240 on a 2007 Harley-Davidson FLH Series. As the motorcycle entered a curve going down a slight grade it left the road for an unknown reason.

Deputy Matt Biggs reported that skid marks were visible for approximately 40 feet where West applied the brakes. He was able to bring the motorcycle back onto the road, but skidded another 111 feet before hitting a guardrail on the south side of the road in front of 3957 State Road 240 East.

West was ejected and the motorcycle bounded off the guardrail, crossing both lanes and coming to rest north of the road.

Before being transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, West told a responding Greencastle Police officer he lost control on loose gravel in the road.

A Bureau of Motor Vehicles inquiry by Biggs revealed that West had no motorcycle endorsement and that he had purchased the motorcycle the day before. Biggs could also not discover an insurance on the motorcycle.

West was cited for driving a motorcycle without an endorsement and for driving without financial responsibility.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

* At 3:47 p.m. Thursday, Jonathan S. Parker, 27, Fillmore, was stationary on County Road 2000 West in a 2004 Pontiac Aztek, waiting for traffic to clear in order to turn left into a driveway at 3583 S. CR 200 West. Buffy M. Heller-Taylor, 40, Greencastle, was stopped behind Parker in a 200 Ford sedan.

David T. Pettit, 23, Greencastle, was also southbound on 200 West. he told Deputy Biggs he was looking out his side window and not paying attention to the road in front of him.

By the time Pettit looked forward, he could not avoid rear-ending Heller-Taylor's vehicle. The collision force Heller-Taylor's car into Parker's vehicle. Both Pettit's and Heller-Taylor's vehicles had to be towed.

Damage was listed at $25,001-$50,000.
