Officer Darrel Bunten arrested Skyler Forrest Mann at Walmart for theft and motor vehicle theft at 2:45 p.m.

The incident began when Mann allegedly took a 2007 Dodge Caliber, owned by Michael Clark, Cloverdale, who happens to be the Cloverdale police chief.

Mann told Officer Bunten he took Clark's private vehicle and then attempted to take the items at Walmart because he was "tired of being homeless."

He reportedly tried to make off with such items as a blow-up mattress, dog food, deodorant, food, drinks and alcohol, including a bottle of Crown Royal.

In another Walmart-related incident, GPD officers arrested a 71-year-old Fillmore man after a call from the store informed police of a possible drunk driver leaving the premises.

Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to one recent property-damage accident.

At 7:20 a.m. on Monday, Roxanne M. Kennedy, 58, Columbus, Ohio, was northbound on State Road 243, approaching a 90-degree turn in a 2000 Ford sedan. Phillip G. Lesley, 59, Terre Haute, was westbound approaching the curve from the other direction in a 1995 International tractor-trailer owned by CDS Trucking Inc., Terre Haute.

Kennedy told Capt. Tom Helmer she was trying to negotiate the right turn but her front tires began to slide on the pavement. Her car crossed the center line and hit the left front of Lesley's semi.

The impact spun Kennedy's vehicle 180 degrees and it came to rest in the northbound lane about 20 feet from the point of impact.

After impact, the cab of the semi slid onto the grass shoulder of the road.

Kennedy and her 17-year-old passenger were taken to Putnam County Hospital by Operation Life. Lesley was taken to a medical facility by his employer.

PCSD Sgt. Gregg Slover and the Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
