Greencastle schools increase security Tuesday
Greencastle Community School Corporation sent an email to parents Tuesday afternoon to inform them of extra security measures put in place.
Superintendent Dawn Puckett noted in the message the security measures are in reference to a warrant for the arrest of "a young man in our district."
"Our safety plan is fully implemented and additional safety measures and heightened awareness are in place at all buildings. We would like to thank the Greencastle City Police Department for their partnership and presence today as we continue to work diligently to assure the safety of our students," Puckett said.
She noted additional safety measures will continue until the suspect is apprehended.
The only known warrant at this time was issued Friday for 18-year-old Shea Tahtinen, who is being sought on charges of criminal mischief and possession of child pornography.
Tahtinen was initially questioned in reference to a series of anti-religious graffiti on three southside churches in Greencastle.
