It'll be a big night at Harbison Stadium Friday. Greencastle's varsity football team will take on West Vigo in the first WIC division matchup of the season.

Elementary Night at Varsity Football will have every elementary school student who brings their school-distributed ticket to the field entering free.

The game will feature a 1-1 Greencastle team against a 2-0 West Vigo unit that is coming off a big 56-26 win at Crawfordsville.

West Vigo employs a running game with 6 foot Hunter Voils and 6-2 Dakota Short. Short also caused mayhem on defense against Crawfordsville.

It'll be up to Devin Clar and the Tiger Cub offensive line to neutralize the 230-pound linebacker and put points on the board.

The Tiger Cubs cruised through the Cloverdale game winning 56-6 shutting the Clover offense down on defense and racking up plenty of offensive stats.

After that win, Meyer said he team is glad to have the momentum with a good team like West Vigo coming to town.

Across the county North Putnam will be looking for its third win at home against Owen Valley, after handling Greencastle in the season opener and earning a gritty win at home against Southmont.

The Cougars lost the lead twice in the first half, but a strong second-half performance ensured that they never again lost the lead, winning 31-21.

Hayden Rudes is a sophomore at the quarter back position and he is coming off a couple of good games, throwing two touchdowns and no interceptions against the Mounties.

South Putnam is another team looking to go 3-0 and the Eagles are looking at their first divisional game.

South Vermillion is struggling in the young season as they lost 68-7 against North Vermillion. McHugh and his offense is expected to put up big numbers against the Wildcat defense.

Cloverdale has steadily gained confidence but hasn't managed a competitive game yet. The Clovers will be traveling to 1-1 Edgewood looking for their first win.

The Clovers are under first-year head coach Tony Meyer who is looking for his players to improve as a football unit, before worrying about scoreboard results.
