Ila B. Allen

Ila B. (Neese) Allen, age 97, passed away Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015.

She was born June 11, 1918 in Owen County to Dan and Lillie (Hunsicker) Neese.

She attended Owen and Putnam county schools, graduating from Reelsville High School.

She married Edward Allen on Dec. 24, 1936, and to this union two children were added, Barbara Colleen and Ronald David.

She was a mother, a farm wife and a friend to all.

She worked at Kattman's Store in Poland, Ind., for 23 years, at Stroud Store for four years, Cloverdale High School for three years and for Donald Allen for two years.

She loved to draw, paint, sew crafts, make dolls and write poetry.

She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a charter member of the Tri County Homemakers Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Allen, in 1972; daughter Barbara Haltom in 1978; granddaughter Pam Bauer in 1999; and great-grandson Bradley McKamey in 2008; her parents, Dan Neese in 1972 and Lillie Neese in 1976; and her brother, Edwin in 1982.

The surviving family members are son Ronald and wife Nancy; son-in-law Dale Haltom and wife Karen; nephew Charlie Neese; niece Phyllis Anderson; four grandchildren, Michelle, Jerry, Amanda and Daniel; five great-grandchildren, Brittany, Chase, Cody, Shane and Abby, and great-great-grandchildren, Cree and Crewe.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Barbara Haltom Scholarship Fund at Hurst-Collins American Legion 281, Cloverdale, Tri County Homemakers Club Poland, Oak Grove Church or the Poland Chapel Cemetery.
