Greencastle tennis beats Northview, 3-2

It was another interesting match when the Greencastle boys' tennis team took on WIC West divisional rival and potential sectional opponent Northview at home.

The two teams have had some wild matches in recent years, including last season's sectional championship in which GHS took the win.

The Tiger Cubs earned the win at home Tuesday when Jed Fajt won a tiebreaker in the No. 1 singles 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-2).

The match against Bryce Minor went for almost three hours.

"Northview has a fantastic team," GHS coach Kevin Rowe said. "That was so much fun and honestly I give so much credit to Northview. They are a great team. When we see them again in sectionals it will be just as good a match if not better."

No. 2 singles Sean Ramey also took the win 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 bouncing back after the loss.

Northview did earn the win in the No. 3 singles slot against Jacob Harris 6-2, 6-0.

"I give props to all their players," Rowe said. "This was just on of those matches that we just pulled in the end. But at the same time the set could've went the other way too."

In the No. 1 doubles' match Nathan Gobert and Elijah Lewis handled the match easily 6-2, 6-0 while Yuji Mozawa and Nate Hensley lost 6-0, 6-2.

"I'm very proud of my guys especially since we haven't been playing great as of late," Rowe said. "We lost a couple matches 3-2 but this is definitely some of the best tennis we've been playing so it was cool to see. We've got a lot ahead of us still. We are shooting for sectional title again. I'm really excited about how we played tonight. Hopefully we can stir that momentum up and keep it going. "
