BRIDGETON -- Head on over to Bridgeton Saturday and Sunday for Milling and Craft Demonstration days, running Sept. 12-13. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Milling Day at the Bridgeton Mill celebrates the birthday of Oliver Evans, the father of modern milling.

Visitors can take a tour of the mill and listen as owner Mike Roe tells its history while seeing the 200 year-old French "burr" stones grinding corn into cornmeal and grits.

Patrons can stock up on cornbread and pancake mixes made using the mill's own organic stone-ground products and will get a chance to see the Bridgeton Artisan Barn, which is full of beautiful handmade items including pottery, woodworking, quilting, chair weaving and photography.

Craft Day at the 1878 house and barn features pioneer and modern crafters at work creating their wares. While visiting, one can learn new skills and watch woodworkers, bowl carvers, a rifle maker, quilters, spinners, knitters and other crafters who will be demonstrating and selling unique handmade items.

Touring the 1822 Case Log Cabin will educate children and adults alike on how the early Indiana settlers lived.
