Banner Graphic: What is it like being a senior on this team?

Zach Wilkerson: It's a lot of good pressure. We are out there to set an example. We have a really good and large (senior) class this year, which is amazing. It's an honor and a really big responsibility. You can have a lot of fun with the team. You get to lead and you get to learn so much at the same time.

BG: What was it like when you first got into the sport?

ZW: Whenever I first started playing it was a little scary. It's intimidating. The game was so fast. It's been so cool to watch the game slow down and become all the more easier and enjoyable as things have gone on.

BG: What are some of your biggest supporters off the field?

ZW: My parents first. They've been amazing supporters as long as I can remember. My teammates undisputedly. I tip my hat to my fellow seniors, teammates on this year's team and teams past. It's been amazing to work with such a distinguished group of people. Our soccer team is so much like a family and that's a huge blessing.

Coaches have always been very supportive. They been very complimentary and very insightful as to how I can improve.

BG: What are some of your team goals?

ZW : Our No. 1 goal with this new conference is to win conference. We've also changed sectionals so and it would be to win sectionals and see how far we can get into the state tournament.

My personal inspiration is the GHS soccer team that played again with a large senior class (2012) and went to semi-state. They set a very big precedent. I'd like to help take our team to something like that.

BG : What are your post high school plans?

ZW: I look forward to going to college. I'm not truly decided on exactly where but I'd like to stay pretty close to Greencastle. It's a great place. I would love to go into computer science and hopefully earn a master's degree.

BG: What interested you about computer science?

ZW: I've always enjoyed how logical a computer program follows the if-then way of thinking. I've really enjoyed several of the classes I've taken and enjoyed the projects I've had the privilege to work on.
