James L. 'Jim' Steele

James L. "Jim" Steele, 61, of Cloverdale, passed away at his residence Friday, Sept. 18, 2015.

He was born Dec. 19, 1953 in Greencastle, the son of Billy E. and Irma L. (Hunter) Steele.

He was a mechanic and owner of Steele's Auto and Wrecker that opened in 1989 in Cloverdale.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his siblings, Bill Steele, Concord, N.C., Bob and wife Pam Steele, Pittsboro, Mike and Beth Steele, Pittsboro, sister Judy and husband John O'Donoghue, Newburgh, Kenny and wife Brenda Steele, Manhattan, and Dale and wife Betty Jo Steele, Charlestown. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
