Teaford - 100th Birthday

Saturday, September 19, 2015

Born on Sept., 21, 1915 to the late Ross and Stella(Kirby) Rutherford, Evelyn Teaford of Mill Pond Health Campus will celebrate 100 years of life on Monday.

She grew up in Paoli in Orange County and lived much of her young life at the Orange County Home, where her mother and father became the caretakers when she was two years old.

Evelyn graduated from Paoli High School sometime in the 1930s and went on to marry George Teaford, also of Paoli. Together they had one daughter, Marcia (husband Herb) Sutherlin of Fillmore.

When Marcia was a teenager and still in school, Evelyn accepted a seasonal Christmas job at the Paoli JayC Store. She liked it so much that she stayed on for 20 years.

She has many fond memories of her childhood, raising her daughter and her work at the Paoli JayC Store.

Evelyn is a lifetime member of Stampers Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Orange County Farm Bureau and the Plainfield Rebekah Lodge. She was a 60-year member of the Happy Valley Home-Ec Club of Orange County and a member of the Friendly Social Club.

Besides her daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn is dearly loved by her grandson Mark (wife Karen) Sutherlin and her great granddaughter Aubrey, all of Greencastle. She has many friends, fellow residents and staff who are happy to see her every day.

She continues to look out for others, is observant, friendly, respectful and curious.

Evelyn has always loved sending and receiving greeting cards -- well, flowers and candy too. Her family and the staff at Mill Pond invite all interested parties to send Evelyn a card in celebration of her 100 years here on this earth.

They will continue to celebrate this milestone birthday with her for as long as the cards keep coming.

Cards may be addressed to Mrs. Evelyn Teaford, 1014 Mill Pond Lane, Greencastle, IN 46135.
